We lost my cousin to suicide in 2018 and one of the hardest aspects for my grandmother when considering this type of loss was the unnatural reality of outliving her granddaughter. “I’ve heard Gregory give plenty of eloquent speeches, toasts, and pep talks throughout our years of friendship. Still, his eulogy for our friend Olga felt like something entirely different. He reminisced about their traditions and journeys, and quoted some of Olga’s cheeky trademark sayings. Gregory added in anecdotes and inside jokes to make friends feel included in the story line, as well as snippets of secret stories I had never heard before but now wanted to. He took us from crying to laughing in one sentence, but made sure to end on an uplifting note, even considering the circumstances. Not only did Gregory paint a lovely picture of what Olga meant to all of us, but he helped provide the closure so many of us were looking for.”
